About Me
My name is Alberto Poti and I come from Italy.
Before starting my career as a dancer, I studied Karate for 11 years. It was an important route of my life, which made me grow and mature on many aspects. From since when I was a child I studied a sense of respect, discipline, work, study and care of your body, commitment and dedication at work have been all important points for my personal growth. Respect and "never give up", are values that even today, as a dancer are important within my professional and personal life.
I started dancing when I was 19 in an amateur school in Italy, doing hip-hop, modern, ballet and contemporary dance. Many competitions and workshops around Italy and abroad had characterized the beginning of my dance career.
In 2009, I won a scholarship for the International Conservatory of Paris. Thanks to this experience, I saw dance from another point of view. Dance outside of Italy appeared different, new culture, new idea, new ways to think and move. After Paris, I got accepted for the BFA dance performance at Codarts University in Rotterdam. This was one of the most important steps I have taken in my life as an artist and as a person. This experience changed me totally.
In 2015 I graduated as International-Professional Dancer at Codarts.
Codarts gave me a message:
“Think you have a limit , so try to touch this limit . Something happens . And immediately you can run a bit ' stronger , thanks to the power of your mind , your determination , your instinct, and the experience".
I classified myself as a physical and strong dancer. I am versatile and fast to learn steps and memorize choreographies. I am a hard worker, I like to improvise and create. I am creative and I love to get inspired by people and things around me. I like being involved during a creation process and I like to collaborate and share ideas and work with the group, choreographers and teachers.I don't like losing, and I always try to reach my fixed goals. I firmly believe that you cannot always get a second chance, and for this reason I always do my best in everything. Every experience gives you so much, regardless of a win, it is the path that makes you grow personally and professionally.
